Military performance and functionality of arrangements
The President of CISM (International Military Wrestling Association) Marko Korpela expects that these championships will show to the participants Finnish military performance both in competitive terms on the matt and in organising the games. “During these coming days the functionality of arrangements will be tested as the games begin in full”, says Korpela. Professionals from the Häme Regiment are behind the arrangements and Korpela trusts in their skill and experience.
Marko Korpela is the latest Finnish medallist in military wrestling from 1997. He hopes the chain of medallists would continue so that he wouldn’t have to carry the title of the latest Finnish medallist anymore.
While the arrangements have been in order, arrival of the teams to Finland has not been without difficulties. Two teams have been forced to cancel their participation. Uzbekistan’s team was unable to fly to Finland due to the forest fires in Russia and the Colombian team’s trip was prevented due to visa issuing problems.
